Autumn is a natural shortlist for established surfers looking at Portugal. Learners may prefer a summer visit and locally chosen conditions. A beach break can become heavy quickly with swell, so treat seasonal guidance as a reason to investigate, not permission to paddle out.

Peniche town and the Baleal area offer different daily experiences. Decide whether the priority is town facilities or being close to your lessons. Ask exactly where the school meets and whether it transports you to another beach when the conditions change.
